The photographs that follow were taken by Riek van Koevorden from 1981 to 1984 when she was working
as a comunity health nurse attached to the Cathloic mission in the village of Atta in the "Mambila " area of Cameroun,
on the edge of the Tikar Plain.
She worked together with local people and her work was mainly situated in and around the
Mission dispensary there.
Besides treatment they did preventive work, such as vacination programs, education,
preventive medicine, mother and child health care, maternity check ups etc.
